On 04 and 05 June, this year's annual UX Camp Europe<\/a> with around 500 participants from all over the world. The event has been held annually in Berlin since 2009 and is one of the largest UX barcamps organised by the European UX community with and for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event comprises various freely selectable formats such as lectures, discussions, workshops, etc., which deal with different aspects of user experience and is extremely popular in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our contribution<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, Steffi had the opportunity to take part again this year. She was there on Sunday and was also directly involved in organising a session on the topic of \"Beyond User centred design. A socio-ecological perspective<\/em>\" to be carried out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steffi's session took place directly in the first slot and was well attended. The participants showed great interest in the topic and it was a great opportunity to share and discuss ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contribution focussed on this, why<\/em> During product\/service development, it is important to focus not only on \"the users<\/em>\" and their \"needs<\/em>\", but to take a broader context into account and, moreover like<\/em> we can integrate this extended context into our design processes in a very practical way using a model from psychology. The last part took place after the lecture with the help of a mini workshop. During and after the session, the participants also had the opportunity to ask their questions and we had good discussions about how to successfully integrate the model into the design process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our session, we also attended other talks and workshops that offered new perspectives. The range of topics was impressive and there was a lot of new food for thought and good conversations outside of the sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the UX community, for the UX community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was Steffi's second UX Camp Europe. The atmosphere is like a UX class reunion, warm, familiar, positive, open and friendly. Everyone gets involved, contributes in some way and makes sure that the UX Camp is a great experience for everyone - and that's exactly what makes it special and sets it apart from the \"classic\" conferences. There is also always the opportunity to exchange ideas directly with others and gather new ideas or even organise an ad-hoc session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Final Thoughts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Once again, the UX Camp was a great event that offered plenty of informative and entertaining sessions. The organisation was great (many thanks to the organisation team at this point) and the commitment of all participants was palpable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are grateful that we were able to be part of this event again this year and are already looking forward to the UX Camp Europe 2024!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
